Sandpoint’s Local Veterans organizations are honored to hold a commemorative Veterans Day Service at Memorial Field today.

The ceremony will take place next to the flag pole and the veteran memorial plaques. It begins promptly at 11 a.m. All are invited to attend.

The Marine Corps League will provide the Honor Guard, Bonner County Veteran Service Officer Bryan Hult will give a quick prayer followed by a little history about Veterans Day. After the ceremony, the Sandpoint VFW Post 2453 will host a beer-and-brats lunch at the Howard Bigelow VFW Hall located on the corner of Division and Pine in Sandpoint.

"It’s a great time to meet some vocal veterans and have a great lunch," Ken Hunt, VFW post commander said.

The local Disabled American Veterans have been conducting a raffle to raise money for their organization with the drawing taking place during the lunch. They are raffling off a .22 Rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun.
