Chiefs drop ninth straight, fall to Seattle

SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs dropped their ninth straight game, falling 7-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds in Western Hockey League play in front of 4,335 at the Spokane Arena on Friday.

Seattle led 3-0 after the first period and extended the advantage to 4-0 before Cade Hayes scored on a breakaway goal for Spokane. Seattle scored twice in the final two minutes to take a 6-1 advantage after the second.

Chase Bertholet scored his team-leading sixth goal four minutes into the third for Spokane (3-11-0-1, 7 points), which has been outscored 15-5 in two games against Seattle this season.

Spokane, now 1-8 at the Spokane Arena, hosts Tri-City tonight at 7:05.
