Gridiron Guesses Nov. 18, 2022: It's all over but the eating ... we hope

Post Falls High’s quarterfinal loss two weeks ago in the state 5A football playoffs — in conditions even a kite would object to — officially brought an end to Year 5 of Gridiron Guesses — the weekly attempt of Press sports writers Mark Nelke and Jason Elliott to predict the area’s high school football teams, with a bit of analysis and, hopefully, a dose of entertainment.

And, occasionally hearing from fans of certain teams, wondering why we always pick against their team.

We don’t always, but …

The final tally showed Mark winning with a 49-10 record. Jason was second at 44-15.

Mark is anxiously awaiting the grand prize — a choice of either prime rib or a ribeye steak from a local establishment.

Likewise, Jason is drooling over the runner-up prize — either a hamburger which requires a third hand to hold, or a burrito roughly the size of a football.

Oh, wait …

Guess those gift certificates haven’t arrived in the mail yet.

Maybe next year … again.
