Valley prep athletes acknowledged for season accomplishments

Area prep athletes were recently acknowledged for their season accomplishments on the volleyball court and soccer pitch.
On the volleyball court in Class A, Lady Pirates Clara Todd and Avery Starr earned both all-state and all-conference first team postseason selections for their performance on the volleyball court.
Also for the Lady Pirates, Lucy Violett picked up an all-conference first team selection, followed by Hannah Simpson with an all-conference second team nod. Lady Pirates Grace Simonich, Julia Barnard, and Sam Rensvold garnered all-conference honorable mention distinctions.
Lady Pirate head coach Lizzy Cox was honored with the Northwestern A coach of the year award.
Ronan Maiden Leina Ulutoa earned both all-state and all-conference first team postseason distinctions, while Margaret Cordova earned all-conference second team and Kylie Fetui picked up all-conference honorable mention.
In Class B, Arlee’s outside hitter/defensive specialist Jerny Crawford and Mission’s middle blocker Izzy Evans both received all-conference accolades.
For the Class C Charlo Lady Vikings, Hayleigh Smith earned both all-state and all-conference first team postseason honors. Also for the Lady Vikings, Payton Smith earned all-conference first team acknowledgements followed by Darcy Coleman and Aida Cote who received all-conference second team nods.
Soccer All-Conference
In Class A soccer, the Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates picked up a half dozen postseason all conference selections.
After scoring a team-leading season high six goals, Lady Pirate Tia Mercer received her third consecutive all-conference second team selection, while both fellow Lady Pirates senior defender Scout Wenzel and junior midfielder Addy Gallatin each picked up all-conference honorable mentions.
For the Pirates, senior forward Braydon Luikart received all-conference second team recognition. All-conference honorable mention recipients are sophomore midfielder Ted Mausshardt and freshman defender/midfielder Cruz Lies.

Playing in a Class A state semifinal road game Saturday afternoon in Lewistown, the No. 3 seeded Polson Pirates lost their first game of the season 49-32 to host and No. 2 seeded Fergus Golden Eagles.
