Trotters battle Eureka in volleyball

Take heart Trotters volleyball fans. Better times are on the way.
The Plains volleyballers are a young and rapidly improving team, with just two seniors and a swarm of sophomores and freshmen heading up the experience ladder.
For now, the Trotters continue to show they are determined to put some W's in the record book.
But it was not to be this past Thursday evening when Plains hosted the Lady Lions for a Western B conference game and wound up being swept by the visitors 3-0.
Against Eureka, which came into Plains with a 4-2 conference mark and a 4-7 season record, the Trotters fell into a deep hole in the early going and were simply not able to dig their way out.
The Lady Lions fought out to a quick early lead, slowly added to it throughout the first set and captured the opening game 1-0 to take a 1-0 match lead, 25-15.
The rapid fire win set the tone for game two, which also went to Eureka, this time by a 25-10 count.
But instead of packing it in when facing that kind of deficit, the Trotters battled back and forth with the Lions, who managed to eke out a 25-22 set three win and complete the 3-0 sweep.
The loss dropped Plains to 0-5 in conference play.
Next on the schedule for Plains is a home game this Thursday when they entertain Highway 200 rival Thompson Falls, with varsity action set to get underway at 7 pm.
The Trotters remain in Plains for a match against Deer Lodge the following night, Friday, October 7, also on their home court.
Hailey Judd had a really good night for Eureka, racking up a sparkling 22 assists for the game.
