Running for office is a step that few are willing to take and at times can be a difficult journey.

For the Nov. 8 election, we invited all six candidates seeking election to the North Idaho College board of trustees to join us for an opportunity to reach their constituents virtually and without political bias.

Candidate letters reminder

With Election Day less than a month away, Coeur d’Alene Press subscribers are engaged.

Many of you are participating in the campaign process by writing letters to the editor in which you are endorsing your favorite candidates or sharing why you won't be voting for their opponents.

You are helping the candidates you favor by reaching tens of thousands of Kootenai County residents who read this newspaper every day.

If you haven't chimed in yet and you want to, there is still time.

Here are the rules:

We publish candidate endorsement (or opposition) letters from Coeur d'Alene Press subscribers only.

Letters can be no longer than 275 words.

Only one candidate endorsement letter per writer, per election season is allowed.

Letter-writing campaigns by candidates are discouraged.

The last day to submit a candidate letter is Nov. 3, but it’s best to get a letter in early. Writers who wait until the last minute risk not having their letters published.

Be sure your name, city of residence and telephone number are on the letter. Your phone number will not be published.

While we prefer letters to be emailed, hand-written and typed letters are allowed. Drop them off at The Press, 215 N. Second St. in downtown Coeur d'Alene, or mail them to:
