COLUMBIA BASIN – Five-and-a-half weeks since the beginning of the fall sports season, high schools in the Columbia Basin can see the season's final weeks on the horizon. Results from last week’s games can be found below.

ACH

The Warriors dropped to 4-2 on the gridiron after a 56-28 loss to Wellpinit on the road on Friday. Sitting in fourth place in the Northeast 1B (North) league, ACH has an opportunity to move up in the standings over the final two games with matchups against 4-1 Wilbur-Creston-Keller at home and 4-0 Odessa on the road.

Through six games, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 224 to 168.

ACH volleyball (4-4 overall, 4-3 in league) went 2-0 last week against Chesterton Academy and Valley Christian.

Ephrata

Ephrata lost its first volleyball game of the season on Thursday, falling 3-0 in a road match against Ellensburg, who is 5-0 in CWAC play. Earlier last week, the Tigers defeated Prosser at home in a sweep. While Ephrata (8-1 overall, 4-1 in league play) will have to wait until a Nov. 1 matchup against the Bulldogs to get payback, they’ll return to their home court tonight against 6-2 Selah.

Ephrata football defeated Selah 49-7 on Friday, improving to 2-4 for the year.

Ephrata girls soccer went 1-2 last week and now sits at a 5-8 record overall.

Ephrata girls placed second, boys played third in the 53rd Max Jensen Richland Invitational cross country meet.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington

After dropping their first game last week 3-2 to Upper Columbia, the Broncos volleyball team bounced back with back-to-back sweeps over Kittitas-Thorp and Northwest Christian (Colbert). Prior to Monday’s home matchup against Saint George’s, the Broncos are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northeast 2B league with five games remaining on the schedule.

Other Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington results:

The Broncos defeated Chewelah 25-18 on Friday night for the homecoming win, improving to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Moses Lake

The Maverick slowpitch softball team lost their first two games of the season last week, losing 9-8 and 11-10 on the road at Chiawana. The Mavs had defeated the Riverhawks in back-to-back home games to begin the season but ended their perfect season bid at 12 wins to start the season. Now, Moses Lake sits in second place in the Columbia Basin Big 9 conference, just behind West Valley (Yakima). The Mavs and the Rams face off today at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in a doubleheader. Both teams are undefeated in league play.

Moses Lake football (5-1) defeated Davis 42-8 on Friday.

Moses Lake volleyball (5-5) won 3-1 over Eisenhower on Thursday.

Moses Lake girls soccer dropped to 4-7 after two losses last week.

Moses Lake boys placed 30 out of 42, girls played 20 out of 32 at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC invitational.

MLCA/CCS

Since losing 3-1 to Entiat in the third game of the season, the Lions have been on a tear on the volleyball court. MLCA/CCS has won eight consecutive games, all in league play, sweeping each match. The Lions have only lost three sets over the course of the entire season, which came in their lone loss. Now 10-1 on the year, a Monday night match against Entiat will go a long way toward determining the winner of the Central Washington 1B league.

The Lions’ boys soccer team dropped to 0-4 with a loss to Riverside last Monday.

Othello

Entering a Week 6 matchup against Prosser, the Othello Huskies football team had outscored their opponents 140-7 over the previous two weeks and by a 175-point margin throughout the season. The winning ways continued against the Mustangs on Friday, where Othello improved to 5-1 and took down then-undefeated Prosser 28-17. Othello’s three remaining regular season games are against teams with winning records.

Othello girls soccer (7-4) went 2-0 last week with wins over Moses Lake and Ephrata.

Othello volleyball (5-3) swept both Grandview and Prosser last week.

Othello boys placed 12th at the 53rd Max Jensen Richland Invitational cross country meet.

Royal

Another week, another blowout win for the Knights – Royal football defeated Kiona-Benton City 63-6 on Thursday night to improve to 5-1 on the year. Senior quarterback Dylan Allred completed 13-of-14 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns and senior running back Kaleb Hernandez rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. Royal looks to keep up the momentum on the road against Foss on Saturday.

Royal volleyball (5-5) went 1-2 last week with a win over Highland.

Royal girls soccer (4-6) went 1-1 last week with a win over College Place.

Soap Lake

The Eagles volleyball team began the week by losing their third-straight game, this time against MLCA/CCS on Tuesday, but ended the week with a win over Riverside Christian. Soap Lake, now 5-5 overall and 4-3 in league play, sits in fourth place in the Central Washington 1B league.

Wahluke

The Warriors’ girls soccer team began last week with back-to-back losses for the first time this season. After dropping to 6-3-1 with losses to College Place on Tuesday and Kiona-Benton City on Thursday, Wahluke was able to respond with a 5-2 win over Wapato on Saturday. The Warriors (7-3-1 overall, 2-2 in league play) return to the field tonight at Royal.

Wahluke football (2-4) fell to College Place 21-14 on Friday.

Wahluke volleyball lost 3-0 to Connell and 3-2 to Kiona-Benton City.

Warden

The Cougars’ volleyball team began the season 7-2 but dropped to 7-3 after a 3-0 road loss to River View last Tuesday. With a 7-3 overall record and a 3-2 league record, Warden remains in third place in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference (East) with six games remaining.

Warden football lost to Columbia (Burbank) 56-0 on Thursday.

Warden girls soccer went 1-1 last week, defeating Granger 6-0 and losing to Mabton 1-0.

Wilson Creek

The Devils began the week with a 3-0 loss to Waterville-Mansfield on Monday but bounced back with back-to-back wins on Tuesday and Thursday. Wilson Creek swept both Easton on the road and Thorp at home to improve to a 4-5 overall record on the year.
