Libby Loggers running back Cy Stevenson's monster game was overshadowed by an even bigger one by Whitefish quarterback Fynn Ridgeway on Friday night as the Bulldogs won, 48-39.
According to the Daily Inter Lake, Stevenson ran for 337 rushing yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns in the Western A game in Whitefish.
Ridgeway ran for 156 yards and five touchdowns while throwing for 320 yards and two touchdown passes.
The Loggers owned a 20-14 halftime lead with Stevenson running 60 yards for a score and Jace DeShazer adding a 14-yard TD run. DeShazer had 82 yards rushing and two TDs. Quarterback Trevor Collins threw a 30-yard TD pass to Cy Williams for their third score of the first half.
Libby could've had a bigger halftime lead, but a fumble set Whitefish up for a late TD run by Ridgeway.
The offensive fireworks continued in the second half as the teams combined for eight touchdowns. DeShazer had a 15-yard TD run in the third quarter to give the Loggers a 26-14 lead.
Whitefish scored the next two times it had the ball to take a 27-26 lead.
But the Loggers regained the lead on Stevenson's 49-yard TD run to make it 32-27.
Ridgeway answered with a TD run and conversion run to make it 35-32.
A Stevenson 81-yard TD gallop on the ensuing possession gave the Loggers a 39-35 lead.
But Ridgeway's 63-yard TD run on the following possession gave the Bulldogs the lead for good and the Whitefish defense didn't surrender any more points.
The Loggers (3-4) play at Hamilton on Friday before returning home for the final regular season game against Corvallis on Sept. 21.
