NIC GOLF: McCartain wins as Cardinal men go 3 for 3 in fall

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Freshman Josh McCartain won the individual title to lead the North Idaho College men’s golf team to victory at the OIT Fall Invitational, hosted by Oregon Tech at the Running Y Resort.

McCartain shot 68–68-73, 7 under par, to win by six strokes over Cardinal teammate Jamen Parsons, who shot 67-70-78. NIC freshman Caden Gambini, who won last week’s tourney in Billings, Mont., finished seventh with a 73-77-72.

NIC’s men posted a three-day total of 872 (+8) to win by 14 shots as the Cardinals won all three tournaments they played in this fall.

NIC’s women finished second, 63 strokes behind the champions from Oregon Tech.

Sophomore Navy Wood led the Cardinals with a fourth-place finish (84-75-80).

The Cardinal teams return to action in the spring.
