COEUR d'ALENE — North Idaho CASA will host its annual fall fundraiser on Oct. 27 at the Hagadone Event Center.

The keynote speaker for "CASA Uncorked" will be Diana Chavez, who has overcome trauma with the help of her adoptive mother and believes in sharing her story "as a beacon of hope for others," a press release said.

“Every child who is triumphant has had at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive adult," said North Idaho Court Appointed Special Advocates Board President Melisa McTaggert.

She said CASA’s trained volunteers offer stability to child victims as they begin to heal from trauma.

Advocates investigate child protection cases, represent the child’s best interest in court and help find them a safe home.

CASA supports trained advocates for over 350 child abuse and neglect victims throughout the First Judicial District.

“Our role is essential, and many times is the difference to these kids becoming a success over a statistic," McTaggert said.

The evening will include music, live and silent auctions, raffles and games, "all with a spooky twist on the eve of Halloween weekend."

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets, $125, are available at www.NorthIdahoCASA.org.
