Coeur d'Alene boys cross country, Lake City boys swimming earn academic honors

Two North Idaho high school teams have been named 2022 Fall Sports Academic State Champions by the Idaho High School Activities Association.

Coeur d'Alene's cross country team earned the 5A honor in its sport and division with a team grade-point average of 3.893.

Lake City's boys swimming team earned the 5A honor in its sport and division with a team GPA of 3.790.

Ticket info announced for Gonzaga-Kentucky game at Spokane Arena

SPOKANE — Tickets to the Gonzaga vs. Kentucky men's basketball game at the Spokane Arena will go on sale to the public on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.

Ticket prices start at $65 and can be purchased at www.spokanearena.com.

The Zags Athletic Giving (ZAG) member presales will begin Oct. 19 and run through Oct. 25. For information on Zags Athletic Giving and how to become a ZAG Member visit www.gozags.com/ZAG.

Gonzaga Athletics announced last week to season ticket holders that the game will be honored as part of the season ticket package.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Spokane Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

The programs recently announced a six-game series, beginning with this season’s matchup in Spokane. Kentucky hosts GU next season in Lexington. The Zags and Wildcats meet in Seattle during the 2024-25 season, before facing each other in Nashville in 2025-26. Gonzaga and Kentucky meet on their home courts beginning in 2026-27 in Rupp Arena, and in the McCarthey Athletic Center in 2027-28.

The teams enter this year's matchup having only met once before on the hardwood. Kentucky captured an 80-72 victory in 2002 at the Maui Invitational.

Tickets to EWU-WSU men's basketball game at Spokane Arena on sale now

Tickets for Eastern Washington University's men's basketball game against Washington State on Monday, Nov. 21 at the Spokane Arena are on sale now. Tip is set for 6 p.m., with the game being broadcast regionally on SWX.

Tickets start at $10 and are available for purchase at ticketswest.com. Student tickets will be available starting Oct. 30.

The Eagles will look to beat the Cougars for the second straight year after a 76-71 upset victory last season in Pullman. The Eagles are 2-15 all-time against WSU.

Eastern has played at the Spokane Arena four times in the program's history. All came against Gonzaga from 2002-05 and were losses.
