Bad Rock and Columbia Falls firefighters responded to a trailer house fire late Thursday night.
The trailer, located behind the Hights Convenience store off Steeles Drive, was heavily damaged, but there were no injuries. The call came in shortly after 11 p.m.
Bad Rock Fire Chief Kirk Katzenmeyer said the fire started on the deck area of the home, but the exact cause is still under investigation. The home’s renter was just about to go to bed when his dog alerted him to the blaze, or it could have been worse.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the entryway and foyer, but there was smoke damage throughout.
The renter sought assistance from the Red Cross.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately available.
Firefighters were off the scene about 2 a.m., Katzenmeyer said.
