COLUMBIA BASIN – Another week of high school athletics has wrapped up in the Basin, with many teams now preparing to make runs to state tournaments. Read along for updates on each team in the Basin, complete with results and win-loss records.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline

The Warriors lost on the road to Odessa on Saturday, losing 54-14 to the Tigers. Sophomore quarterback Carter Pitts rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown in the loss and sophomore running back rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on six attempts. ACH, now 5-3 overall, is third in the Northeast 1B (North) league ahead of a home game against Curlew in the division crossover this Friday.

Ephrata

The Tigers went 1-1 on the volleyball court this past week, first sweeping Othello and then losing 3-2 on the road to East Valley (Yakima). With four games remaining in the regular season, Ephrata (9-3) sits in third place in the Central Washington Athletic Conference with a 5-3 record in league play. With a two-game distance between Ephrata and fourth-place Othello, the Tigers look to hold a top-three seed in the CWAC tournament next Saturday.

Ephrata football (4-4) defeated Prosser 20-17 on Friday

Ephrata girls soccer (6-10) won 2-1 over Prosser and lost to Ellensburg 1-0

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington

The Broncos went 2-0 in volleyball last week, first winning 3-1 over Davenport on Tuesday before sweeping Kettle Falls on Saturday. The Broncos are now 11-2 overall with an 8-1 record in league play. Winners of six straight, the Broncos now have a crucial game against league-leading Colfax on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are 9-2 overall and 9-0 in the Northeast 2B league, with the game determining the leader in the league.

Moses Lake

The Moses Lake football team dropped their first conference game of the year on Friday, losing 41-35 on the road to West Valley (Yakima). The Mavericks (6-2) is now part of a three-way tie for the lead in the Columbia Basin Big 9 Conference, with Sunnyside, Eastmont and the Mavs all having 4-1 conference records. Moses Lake defeated Sunnyside at home 21-19 two weeks ago and hosts Eastmont this Friday.

Moses Lake slowpitch (17-3) lost to West Valley (Yakima) 20-11 to lose the district championship but advanced to state with an 18-2 win over Davis.

Moses Lake volleyball (7-7) lost 3-0 to West Valley (Yakima) and 3-2 to Davis last week.

Moses Lake girls soccer (5-10) lost 3-0 to West Valley (Yakima) and 1-0 to Davis last week.

Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School

The Lions improved to 13-3 overall in volleyball last week with 3-0 wins over both Easton and Yakama Nation Tribal. MLCA/CCS finished the regular season with a 9-3 conference record and third in the Central Washington 1B league. The District 6 volleyball tournament begins on Thursday for the Lions, who will take on Pateros at 7 p.m. at home. The Lions are 2-0 against Pateros this season, sweeping in both games

Lions boys soccer (0-8) lost to Upper Columbia and Saint George’s last week.

Othello

The Huskies dropped both of last week’s girl's soccer games, losing 4-0 to Ellensburg and 2-0 to Grandview. Othello (8-7) begins the District 5/6 tournament on Tuesday with a home matchup against Prosser. The Huskies split their matchups with Prosser this season, losing 2-0 on the road on Sept. 24 and winning 1-0 on Oct. 13. The winner will move on to face No. 1 seed East Valley (Yakima) on the road on Thursday.

Othello volleyball (6-6) lost on the road to Ephrata 3-0 last week.

Othello football (6-1) had its game canceled against Kelso on Friday.

Quincy

The Quincy football team won their third game of the year on Friday, defeating Medical Lake in a 43-30 road win. The Jackrabbits are now 3-5 this season with one game remaining in the regular season against Cashmere at home.

Quincy girls soccer (6-10) lost 6-0 to Cascade (Leavenworth) and 2-0 to Omak.

Quincy volleyball (3-12) lost to Cascade (Leavenworth), Omak and Royal last week.

Royal

The Royal football team kept up their high-scoring ways with a 69-0 win over College Place on Friday. The Knights scored 10 touchdowns in the win, including two on special teams and one on defense. Royal (6-1) now enters a Week 8 matchup on the road against Connell to determine the winner of the South Central Athletic Conference (East). Both teams are 3-0 in league play.

Royal girls soccer (6-8) lost 2-0 to Kiona-Benton City and defeated College Place 1-0 last week.

Royal volleyball (8-7) beat Kiona-Benton City and Quincy and lost to College Place last week.

Soap Lake

The Eagles won two of their four volleyball games last week, sweeping Thorp and Cascade Christian and losing to Waterville-Mansfield and league-leading Entiat. Soap Lake (10-7) is now finished with regular season play and now prepares for a second-round matchup against No. 4 seed Wilson Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are the No. 5 seed in the tournament.

Wahluke

The Warriors had their four-game win streak snapped with a 2-1 loss to Connell on Thursday, but the Wahluke girls soccer team got its tenth win of the year with a 7-1 win over College Place earlier in the week. Wahluke (10-4-1) takes on South Central Athletic Conference (East)-leading Kiona-Benton City on Tuesday in the regular season finale.

Wahuke football (2-6) lost 34-7 to La Salle last week.

Wahluke volleyball (0-15) lost to College Place and Connell last week.

Warden

The Cougars split their volleyball games last week, first losing 3-1 to Walla Walla Valley on Monday and bouncing back with a win over Dayton-Waitsburg on Thursday. The loss to Walla Walla Valley dropped Warden to third place in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference (East). Warden (10-5) Has one game remaining on the schedule in a home match against River View on Thursday.

Warden football (2-6) lost to Dayton-Waitsburg 12-7 on Friday.

Warden girls soccer (6-8) went 0-2 with losses to Highland and Cle Elum-Roslyn last week.

Wilson Creek

Wilson Creek’s back-to-back 3-1 wins over Pateros and Riverside Christian last week moved the Devils up to the No. 4 seed in the District 6 1B tournament. With a win, the Devils (6-7) would move on to face the winner of No. 1 seed Entiat and Riverside Christian/Easton for the opportunity to go to state.
