Johnson will focus on issues, not divisiveness

Someone disfigured a couple Scott Herndon's signs with the Nazi swastika symbol. Regardless of how intensely one dislikes a candidate, this is never acceptable. And nearly as troubling, Herndon went immediately to social media to blame a local Democratic Party leader. While it's no secret that a lot of local voters, including many Republicans, are extremely mad about his nasty smear campaign against Republican state Sen. Jim Woodward, it's completely unfair of Herndon to blame a Democrat. Instead of tamping down bad behavior, he ramped it up with unfounded accusations.

Seriously, aren’t we sick of divisive party politics? Let's vote for the person who best represents our views on public policies and not get hung up on whether they have a R, D, L, C after their name. Write-in candidate Steve Johnson is running as an independent.

We know public school funding is on the next legislative session’s agenda after $410 million was passed this summer in special session. The 100,000 Idaho voters, who signed Reclaim Idaho’s initiative that forced this large investment, expect to see funds appropriated toward the following:

  1. More career-technical classes of workforce skills for high school students;

  2. More counselors for struggling elementary and secondary students;

  3. Salary increases competitive with neighboring states for teachers and staff.

Your write-in vote for Steve Johnson for Idaho Senate will represent this view. Both Steve and his wife Marguerite are retired LPOSD teachers and long-time Bonner County residents.

Be sure to fill-in box when writing in “Steve Johnson” to make your vote count.
