I received my Kootenai County Republican Central Committee Recommended Candidates card in the mail on Wednesday. They recommend voting for Bela Kovacs for assessor. Really? I would have thought that KCRCC’s vaunted vetting process would have shown that the Kootenai County Board of County Commissioners recently unanimously cut his pay in half because of his short, but abysmal and well-publicized poor performance as assessor, coupled with the fact that the staff of the Assessor’s Office are leaving in droves because of his poor management style. This recommendation makes me wonder how this guy can get through a legitimate vetting process. Also makes me wonder if their other recommendations were vetted under the same system.
