For western Montana volleyball fans and players alike, one need look no further than Drummond to see a team that might be able to become a state champion.
St. Regis, which had a tough week earlier last week found that out first hand when they traveled to Drummond for a match with the unbeaten, 15-0 Lady Trojans, who swept the Lady Tigers 3-0.
The tall, talented and deep Trojans have feasted on Western 13C and 14C competition throughout the season and appear to be in fine form heading into this weekend’s District tournament action.
The Lady Trojans swapped early points with St. Regis in the opening set, then built a large lead they never relinquished on their way to a 25-9 set one victory and a 1-0 match lead.
St. Regis made things interesting in the second set, pushing the host team throughout game two before eventually falling 25-20, putting the visiting Lady Tigers behind two sets to none.
Drummond would go on to an easy set three victory, 25-9 to secure the sweep and keep their overall record unblemished.
Both teams now head to their respective District tournaments with a potential rematch in the Divisional tournament the first weekend in November.
