NIC ROUNDUP: Cardinals sweep Big Bend

COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho College freshman Rachael Stacey had 17 kills and eight digs for the Cardinals in a 25-19, 25-12, 25-11 win over the Big Bend Vikings in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Christianson Gymnasium on Wednesday.
NIC sophomore Abigail Neff had 40 assists and 14 digs, freshman Rylee Hartwig nine kills and three digs for NIC (21-4, 12-1 NWAC). Sophomore Taylin Rowley had six kills and 13 digs for NIC.
NIC, which has clinched a playoff spot, travels to Treasure Valley on Friday.
Big Bend is 2-19, 1-12.

PASCO, Wash. — Mariel Stuart scored on an assist from Teresa Ledezma in the 47th minute for the Cardinals, who beat the Hawks in the Northwest Athletic Conference finale for both schools.
NIC (12-2-3, 10-1-3, 33 points) finished third in the East Region and will travel to a No. 2 seed to open the NWAC playoffs next Wednesday. Columbia Basin (14-1-1, 12-1-1, 37 points) will have a first round bye. Spokane (12-2-2, 11-2-1, 34 points) will be the second seed from the East Region and host its opening round match.
Kaycee Chavez had six saves for NIC.

Columbia Basin (11-3-0, 9-3-0), winners of the East Region title, will have a bye in the first round of the conference playoffs.
