ELECTION: Look beyond KCRCC endorsements

Do you know your Precinct Committeemen? There are 70+ PCs. I have never met my PC and I have lived at my present address since 2004? I would venture that 99% of Kootenai County residents have never met their PC either.

The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee sends around their “endorsed candidate ballot.” Allegedly, the Precinct Captains interview and vote on those who end up being endorsed. I went through the process, and it was nothing as they describe. Supposedly, the PCs interview the prospective candidates at a meeting prior to a monthly meeting. Of the 70ish supposed PCs, only three spoke to me that night and none asked me anything of substance.

The Central Committee expects those not endorsed to withdraw so they can control who the general population gets to vote for. I don’t understand how anyone can follow the “endorsement” by someone that they have never met? How do you know that any of those people actually represent your values and what you want in a candidate? Are we all clones who wear blinders and march lock-step to the edicts of a small group of people?

I got the stink eye from the Central Committee when I first said what I am about to say: If you vote based on an endorsed ballot, then you may as well give your ballot to the people telling you who and what to vote for.

Please do your own homework. Research the individuals. Try and attend and speak to them. The questionnaires and things on the vetting site are what they know the CC wants to hear. Check out the backgrounds for yourself. Vote based on your own research.
