A motorcyclist is dead after succumbing to injuries suffered during a crash with another vehicle near a busy intersection on U.S. 2 over the holiday weekend, officials say.

Officers with the Kalispell Police Department joined other emergency responders in heading to the scene at the intersection of East Idaho Street and Third Avenue East North about 5:47 p.m., Sept. 3 following reports of an injured motorcyclist in the roadway. An officer joined a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office in providing first aid while waiting on medical personnel, according to a Kalispell Police Department press release.

Later transported to Logan Health Medical Center in critical condition, the injured man, a 34-year-old from Kalispell, died at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcycle was uninjured in the collision, officials said. The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
