The Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club is hosting a free breakfast for veterans who live in North Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene.
The event, co-hosted by the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Veterans Committee, is an opportunity for local veterans to meet and create new relationships and connections with other veterans in the community. Veterans working together can help combat depression and loneliness.
“As a veteran, I have a heart for helping fellow vets,” said Ed Bejarana, rotary vet’s breakfast coordinator. “As a Rotarian, I believe in service above self and was looking for ways to meet more veterans in the community and bring vets closer together.”
In addition to a pancake and sausage breakfast, donated by Super 1 Foods, participants will have the chance to win prizes from local businesses, including camping gear, restaurant gift certificates and more. All veterans are encouraged to bring a friend.
“The Veterans Committee in our club is relatively new. They just formed last year,” said Candace Godwin, Cd'A Rotary Club president. “The veterans in our club recognized a need in the community to help get veterans connected with each other. This breakfast is the first step in reaching out, and who doesn’t love pancakes?”
There is no charge for the breakfast, however an RSVP is required and can be made online through the Coeur d’Alene Rotary website at: http://coeurdalenerotary.org/veteransbreakfast.php.
Breakfast sponsors include Super 1 Foods, Black Sheep, Seasons Restaurant, Killer Burger, Pilgrim's Market, Nosworthy’s, Lake City Church, Angelo’s Restaurant, Triple B Guns and Zenith Exhibits.
