Jeff Gove leads Senior PGA Championship

WARRENTON, Ore. — Jeff Gove, head pro at The Idaho Club outside Sandpoint, shot a 5-under-par 67 on Thursday for the first-day lead at the Pacific Northwest Section Senior PGA Professional Championship at the Astoria Golf and Country Club.
David Christenson, former director of golf at Circling Raven and playing out of The Club at Black Rock south of Coeur d'Alene, is in second place after shooting 69.
Billy Bomar of Bomar Putting Company, former co-owner at Prairie Falls Golf Club, is tied for 11th after shooting even-par 72.
The 36-hole event concludes today.
The top five finishers qualify for the 2022 Senior PGA Professional Championship scheduled for Oct. 13-16, 2022, at Twin Warriors and Santa Ana golf clubs in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. PNW PGA Professional Jeff Coston has an exemption into the national event.
Zag women will play Louisville in the opening round of Battle 4 Atlantis
The brackets for the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis were revealed and the Gonzaga women's basketball team will play Louisville in the opening round in The Bahamas on Nov. 19.
The Zags and Cardinals most recently played in the second round of last year's NCAA Tournament. GU played a competitive game against the No. 1 seed in their home arena but came up short, 68-59. The Bulldogs will go on to play either Marquette or Texas in the next round Nov. 20, then play their final game of the event Nov. 21.
The Battle 4 Atlantis debuted last year. This year's field includes Gonzaga, Louisville, Marquette, Rutgers, South Dakota State, UCLA, Tennessee and Texas.
This marks the second year in a row that the Zags travel to a tropical Thanksgiving tournament. Last year, Gonzaga won the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu, Hawaii, beating Eastern Illinois, Hawaii and Utah.
