COEUR d’ALENE — Ella Hosfeld had 16 assists, 11 digs and six kills as the Lake City Timberwolves bounced back from a first-set loss to beat the Lakeland Hawks 24-26, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 in Inland Empire League volleyball Friday night.

Payton Peugh added 11 kills and six digs for Lake City (6-0, 3-0 IEL). Allie Bowman had 17 digs, Aubrey Stennett 16 assists and five kills. Emberlyn Reynolds added nine kills, “many of those kills in critical moments for us,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said.

“It was a great night of volleyball, we were able to get on a few service runs in sets 3 and 4 … it could have gone either way,” said Kleinberg, adding Lakeland’s strong serve-receive limited Lake City to just six aces on the night.

“We definitely served strong enough to keep them out of system a little bit,” Kleinberg said. “They (the Hawks) kept rallies alive and took advantage of big swings when we were out of position on defense. Their libero (Ellie Carlson) was all over the place.”

Addie Raebel and Kenna Simon had 10 kills each for Lakeland (5-6, 1-1 IEL). Olivia Zazuetta had 19 assists, Carlson 20 digs, Ziya Munyer six blocks, Ella Terzulli two aces.

“It was a good fight tonight,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Lots of long rallies and scrappy defense on both sides. Kenna and Addie Raebel hit the ball well and made some big plays when we needed the confidence. Ziya was awesome at the net tonight and had some huge blocks.”

On Tuesday, Lakeland plays host to Lewiston, and Lake City travels to Sandpoint.

COEUR d’ALENE — Paisley Goings had 13 kills, 15 digs and three aces as the host Vikings, playing without injured hitter Madi Symons, beat the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-16, 17-25, 23-25, 15-12 in Inland Empire League play at Viking Court.

Olivia Naccarato added 10 kills for Coeur d’Alene (10-0, 2-0 IEL). Bailey Jaworski had 24 assists, Elizabeth Hardy 14 assists, and Gia Janke and Hannah Black had two aces each.

Symons missed the match with shin splints, Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said.

“It just became a battle,” Curtis said of the final three sets. “I was impressed with our girls in the first two sets; we came out and played hard, and had good ball control. I thought they did a good job stepping up their level of play without her.”

For Sandpoint (1-5, 0-3 IEL), Viv Platte had 18 kills and three blocks, Haley Swaim 38 assists, Aubree Lane 23 digs.

“I thought Sandpoint did a great job defensively,” Curtis said. “I thought their libero did a really good job, and I thought their outsides played well.”

Sandpoint plays host to Lake City on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Coeur d’Alene plays at Lewis and Clark in Spokane.
