A Wallace man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly threw a table at a woman and threatened law enforcement personnel.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office made the arrest after responding late Saturday afternoon to a report of a physical domestic dispute in 6200 block of W. Prairie Avenue. The woman reportedly told deputies she had been struck by the table.
The sheriff's office reported in a news release that the alleged suspect, Christopher L. Wilburn, 42, was uncooperative, made threats to deputies and refused to come out of the residence.
The Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT Team was called to assist. During negotiations, the alleged suspect said he had several propane tanks set up in the residence. Wilburn is reported to have threatened SWAT members and deputies with a bat and refused to follow any commands.
Wilburn surrendered to SWAT members around 7:40 p.m. and was taken into custody, according to the news release.
He was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and was transported to the Kootenai County Jail. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
The female victim suffered injuries to her leg and was treated by medical personnel.
Wilburn has prior arrests in Kootenai County as far back at 2002 for charges ranging from burglary and malicious injury to property to obstruction.
This was the second SWAT Team deployment in the last three days. The first incident was on Thursday to assist the U.S. Marshal’s Service with a wanted felon out of Montana, who was located at a residence in the Post Falls area.
