NIC golf coach Grove wins Montana Open
MISSOULA, Mont. — North Idaho College men’s and women’s golf coach Russell Grove won the Montana Open by four shots on Sunday at Larchmont Golf Course.
Grove shot 68-69-66—203, 13 under par.
Gove wins; Bomar also qualifies
ASTORIA, Ore. — Jeff Gove of The Idaho Club outside Sandpoint won the recent Pacific Northwest PGA Senior Professional Championship at Astoria Golf and Country Club.
Gove shot 67-71—138 to win by three strokes over defending champion Bob Rannow of Ocean Dunes Golf Links and former Prairie Falls Golf Club co-owner Billy Bomar of Bomar Putting Company.
Players competed over 36 holes for the Senior Section Championship title and a chance to advance to the 2022 Senior PGA Professional Championship, scheduled for Oct. 13-16 at Twin Warriors and Santa Ana golf clubs in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M.
Gove, Rannow and Bomar, as well as Jim Pike of Sahalee CC and Rob Clark of Desert Canyon Golf Resort, all qualified for the 2022 Senior PGA Professional Championship. PNW PGA professional Jeff Coston has an exemption into the national event. Tom Sovay of The GC at Redmond Ridge is first alternate.
Gonzaga women's FanFest in the Kennel scheduled
SPOKANE — Gonzaga women's basketball team will host FanFest in the Kennel on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m., with doors opening one hour prior to the event.
The annual event includes player and coaching staff introductions, along with contests on the court. Tickets will not be required to attend the event.
FanFest will be the public's first look at the 2022-23 Gonzaga women's basketball team that returns 10 players and welcomes two transfers. The Zags closed the 2021-22 season with their 10th WCC Championships title and their 13th NCAA Tournament appearance.
