Police Calls - A week of hit and run accidents and beach parties

August 15
7:42 a.m. The caller asked police what he should do a little too late, as the bear was already going through his garbage on Nelson Lane.
August 16
12:19 p.m. Two hit and run accidents occurred within the hour, one on Baker Avenue and one on First Street.
1:46 p.m. There was a report of a big bear on the golf course.
1:47 p.m. A bear was eating trash from an unsecured garbage can on O’Brien Avenue.
2:45 p.m. Small grass fires on Edgewood Place were thought to be started by two juveniles, possibly with fireworks. A Mountain Climber driver was able to contain the fires with a fire extinguisher.
5:31 p.m. Another hit and run accident occurred on Baker Avenue.
7:39 p.m. The bear on O’Brien Avenue has been hanging around for hours.
4:15 a.m. Someone called to report a bear walking down Baker Avenue.
August 17
9:51 a.m. The caller wanted officers to enforce the sign at the playground that says ‘no dogs allowed,’ because there was a leashed dog in the playground area.
3:28 p.m. A terrier went missing and was found soon thereafter.
3:42 p.m. Reportedly, a blue Audi hit a Toyota Tundra that was parked on Spokane Avenue.
9:35 p.m. Some kids floating by on the river threatened the caller who was sitting on a bench. They wanted him to meet them by the footbridge for a fight.
August 19
12:37 p.m. A Ford truck hit a black Jeep on Lupfer Avenue and no one was injured.
1:37 p.m. About six transients on Central Avenue were yelling at passersby to get a job.
1:46 p.m. The caller from Baker Avenue complained about a neighbor letting his dog defecate all over.
6:14 p.m. A female was annoyed after she accidentally dialed 911 when trying to dial her own cell phone.
7:24 p.m. A Ford Ranger backed into a Ford Explorer that was parked on Baker Avenue.
9:43 p.m. A black Dodge Ram truck was “driving like a maniac” and passing unsafely on Colorado Avenue.
9:51 p.m. The group of transients were in front of a bar, yelling at people on Central Avenue.
2:32 a.m. There was a report of a male “acting strange” in the common area of a hotel on Eighth Street.
4:09 a.m. There was extremely loud music coming from the sedan parked at the beach. The two females were counseled and will move along.
August 20
9:36 a.m. A white Subaru Forester from Texas was reportedly swerving all over the road on Highway 93.
11:48 a.m. When the drivers were both in the store, the Toyota rolled into the caller’s Lexus and caused minor damage. The Toyota owner believes his dog, who was in the vehicle, switched gears and caused the truck to move forward.
8:30 p.m. A male, thought to be a bike rider, set up a lime green tent where camping is not allowed. It is unclear if the male is taking part in a bike event or not.
1:00 a.m. A driver on Highway 93 was advised that the reason his tail lights flicker and are dim is a wiring issue.
3:00 a.m. More people were enjoying the beach after hours as about five subjects were swimming and partying.
