NIC ROUNDUP: Frosh McElhenney shines for Cardinal women

COEUR d’ALENE — Freshman Macie McElhenney had two goals and an assist for North Idaho College, which posted its second straight shutout in Northwest Athletic Conference play, beating Wenatchee Valley 6-0 at Eisenwinter Field on Saturday.

Shelbie Shriner, a freshman from Coeur d’Alene High, scored her first goal of the season in the 43rd minute for NIC, which shut out Blue Mountain 3-0 on Wednesday in Pendleton, Ore.

NIC (4-2-0, 2-1-0 NWAC) hosts Yakima Valley on Wednesday.

Wenatchee Valley is 0-4-0, 0-2-0.

EVERETT, Wash. — The Cardinals outlasted the Storm 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 15-8 to finish the Everett crossover 1-2.

On Friday, NIC fell to Lane 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-11, then lost to Skagit Valley 21-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-10.

Statistics from the tournament were not available.

NIC (10-3) returns home to face Columbia Basin of Pasco on Wednesday.
