Police Calls: Mistaken shot of bear spray makes man a hot mess

August 26
8:04 a.m. The caller was walking her kids to school and was almost hit by a car, the male driver of which got out and yelled at them “like it was their fault.” Reckless drivers is an ongoing issue on Park Avenue.
10:06 a.m. Someone called to complain about a green, turtle-looking vehicle that has been parked for a long time on Somers Avenue.
12:15 p.m. Two girls walking to the beach with a white dog raised suspicions because they took some packages out of the mailboxes somewhere near Birch Point.
3:35 p.m. Reckless drivers on Fir Avenue are troublesome, especially now that school is back in session, according to one caller.
9:19 p.m. Reportedly, a bear who was minding his own business on Third Street, ran up a tree after being harassed by neighbors who were throwing sticks at him.
9:33 p.m. A small, black sheepdog ran into a store on Highway 93.
11:35 p.m. A very intoxicated male was lying down in the alley near the parking garage and although he appeared to be unable to stand, he was walking away shortly thereafter.
11:52 p.m. There was a complaint of a fight behind a location on Central Avenue.
1:14 a.m. People yelling, screaming and swimming at the boat launch prompted a noise complaint.
August 27
3:49 p.m. Four young men were messing around on a building site on Haugen Heights, putting tools into their car, peeing on things and tearing some things apart.
7:15 p.m. A handful of kids at the skate park had to be told to keep the music and the cursing down.
12:37 a.m. A bear was reportedly walking into a driveway on Seventh Street.
1:06 a.m. The owner of the maroon truck was counseled for at least a second time about leaving two dogs in the vehicle.
August 28
8:30 a.m. Someone lost a wallet one week ago on Spokane Avenue.
3:14 p.m. A man asked the police department if a black, carry-on suitcase had been turned in.
5:17 p.m. Some kids drove a pickup truck to the skate park and were grilling burgers. It was unclear if they intended to camp.
9:58 p.m. The caller said a man wearing a backward-facing baseball cap was yelling and calling him names. The yeller was counseled on his behavior.
August 29
8:29 a.m. A passerby called to report a burst pipe on Baker Avenue that was spraying water near a utility box.
8:54 a.m. A large, shaggy dog was loose on Baker Avenue.
9:21 a.m. A red SUV was passing unsafely on Armory Road and almost caused a head-on collision.
9:27 a.m. A dark-colored Chevy was swerving toward the ditch and into the oncoming traffic on Highway 93.
2:35 p.m. The caller on Karrow Avenue said a small black bear almost walked into his garage.
6:50 p.m. The black Lab that was reported lost and was missing for a couple hours, came back.
7:04 p.m. The caller says the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder punched his car and broke the side window on Baker Avenue.
9:14 p.m. On O’Brien Avenue, a man felt his eyes were burning a bit after he sprayed himself with bear spray.
