It was a challenging week to say the least for the Trotters volleyball teams as they entered the fray in Western B conference action.

Saturday the Plains ladies went up against always-tough Eureka and were swept by the Lady Lions 3-0.

Eureka led throughout the match and opened the contest with a 25-15 set one win that gave them a 1-0 match lead. The Lady Lions broke away from a 12-10 lead in game two and worked it to 24-12 before putting away the visiting Trotters 25-12 to take a comfortable 2-0 match lead.

The third and deciding set was also all Eureka as they scored the first three points of the set, then bolted out to a 20-5 lead. They wrapped up the set and the match sweep with a 25-7 game three win.

Eureka’s Hailey Judd had a match high 25 assists to help lead the Lady Lions victory. They also got 15 kills from Remmi Stanger, six service aces from Savanna Peterson and 11 digs from Lucia Schemmerhorn.

Thursday evening the Trotters faced highly ranked Bigfork, also on the road, and lost in straight sets, 25-8, 25-12 and 25-10.

Plains travels to Florence this Tuesday (today), then returns home to face the Troy Lady Trojans Thursday at 7 p.m.
