Sept. 22, 1972 – TEACHER’S FAITH JUSTIFIED
When Mrs. Dan (Harriet) Carter, teacher at the Sandpoint adjustment school, needed a fish for her class to clean, cook and eat, she showed faith, asking her son Hal to get her a fish. Off he went with Doug Puckett, Garfield Bay charter boat operator, to search for a big fish. Exactly three hours later, her fish, a 13 lb. 8 oz. female Kamloops was on its way to the school. The strike came while the men were trolling between Windy Point and Kilroy Bay. It was Carter’s first Kamloops. Mrs. Carter said this is the first of five projects her class will complete to broaden their life experience. They will also learn how to pluck a freshly killed chicken, clean it, cook and eat it; make home-made ice cream, cottage cheese, butter and soup.
