Pedestrian killed near Royal City

ROYAL CITY — A Spokane man was struck and killed by a motorist while he was out running early Friday morning, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol.

According to the release, Sean Whisenhunt, 26, was running westbound in the eastbound lane of SR-26 near the intersection with Dodson Road east of Royal City at around 6 a.m. when he was hit by a 2017 Honda driven by Jorge Guevara Reyes, 43, of Othello.

Whisenhunt was pronounced dead at the scene, the WSP report said, while Reyes was transported to Othello Community Hospital with minor injuries. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

The WSP said no charges have currently been filed against Reyes.

Collision kills driver near Quincy

QUINCY — Adams Road near Quincy was closed for about three and a half hours Wednesday afternoon due to a collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle. The car’s driver was killed in the crash. The collision occurred at about 12:45 p.m., according to a release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, between Road 5 Northwest and Road 6 Northwest. The driver’s name was withheld pending notification of family members, said Kyle Foreman, GCSO public information officer. The case is still under investigation.
