Chiefs knock off Victoria again

VICTORIA, British Columbia — Raegan Wiles scored the eventual game-winner midway through the third period to lift the Spokane Chiefs past the Victoria Royals 5-4 in front of 2,238 in Western Hockey League play at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Center on Saturday.
Mac Gross scored to give Spokane a 2-1 lead in the first period. Gross, who scored two goals in the team’s season opener on Friday, had three goals all of last season.
Victoria tied the game at 3, but Spokane regained the advantage 15 seconds later on Jake Gudelj’s first goal of the season.
Spokane outshot Victoria 31-25, including 24-11 in the final two periods.
Spokane (2-0) faces Kamloops in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference playoff series next Saturday at the Spokane Arena at 7 p.m.
