The Red Devils are on the prowl.

The latest victim of the Noxon roll, the White Sulphur Springs Hornets will testify to that after they were shellacked by the Red Devils 45-6 in a game played in Noxon this past Friday evening.

The win upped the Noxon season mark to 4-1, and kept their Western 6-man football record unblemished at 3-0.

White Sulphur fell to 0-2 and 0-5 with the defeat.

Noxon was first to get on the scoreboard Friday when they broke up a tightly played defensive battle on a 20-yard touchdown scamper by junior running back Antonia Lodi in the first quarter. A successful point after touchdown (PAT) kick by Brian Risch, which under six-man rules counts for two points, boosted the early Red Devils lead to 8-0 by the end of the opening quarter of play.

In the second quarter, Risch and Ricky Williams traded scores, with Risch adding to the Noxon lead when he broke free on an 18-yard scoring run. The PAT kick was also good, giving the home team a 16-0 lead early in quarter number two.

A short time later, with the Red Devils defense blunting another Hornets’ drive, Williams snared a 25-yard touchdown pass from Risch, who then booted another PAT to push the score to 24-0 Noxon.

Before the first half ended, Risch threw another scoring touchdown, this one good for 28 yards to Justic Keyser. Risch kept his PAT kicking streak going and gave the home team a 32-0 lead that held up throughout the remainder of the first half.

Lodi opened the second half much as he had the game when he scooted 28-yards for another score early in the third quarter. The PAT was no good, leaving the Noxon lead at 38-0.

On the ensuing kickoff, White Sulphur finally got on the scoreboard when they returned the ball the length of the field for an 80-yard touchdown. The PAT was no good and the score stood at 38-6 midway through the third quarter.

Before the third stanza expired, Lodi scored his third running touchdown of the game on a 25-yard romp. The extra point boosted Noxon to a 45-6 lead.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter as the Red Devils sewed up the win.

Next up for the Red Devils is a Friday night road encounter with County rival Hot Springs. Both teams come into the game undefeated in conference play. The contest in Hot Springs begins at 7 pm.
