Washington fire update for Sept. 28

WASHINGTON STATE — There are seven large fires in Washington according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center as of Sept. 27. The site defines a large fire as any wildland fire in timber 100 acres or greater, and 300 acres or greater in grasslands/rangelands, or has an Incident Management Team assigned to it.

There are seven fires currently on the Northwest Large Fire Interactive Web Map, though not all of them meet the criteria to be defined as large:

Siouxon: Located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, started Sept. 23, contained information not available, 109 acres burned.

Boulder Mountain: Located 9 miles northwest of Cusick, started on Aug. 31, 99% contained, 2,310 acres burned.

Kalama: Located 27 miles northeast of Kalama, started on Sept. 1, 6% contained, 355 acres burned.

Goat Rocks: Located 7 miles east of Packwood, started on Aug. 9, 22% contained, 3,675 acres burned.

Bolt Creek: Located 37 miles east of Seattle, Started on Sept. 10, 7% contained, 11,277 acres burned.

Minnow Ridge: Located 25 miles north of Wenatchee, started on Sept. 10, 0% contained, 1,476 acres burned

White River: Located 14 miles northwest of Plains, started on Aug. 11, 10% contained, 3,750 acres burned.

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam

MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
