April 2, 1973 – FIRST BIRTHDAY NOTED
A party was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Finney March 23 for the first birthday of their son, John Alvan. Guests were his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvan Finney; great-grandmother, Mrs. Amelia Finney; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Finney and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Finney and family and Don Swanstrom.

DAWSON LED WRESTLERS IN MAT SEASON
Guy Dawson, SHS junior, topped the individual scoring for the Bulldog wrestlers this past season, winning 14 matches, all but one by pins. Other wrestlers with scores of 10 or more points were Mark Yaw, Mark Lyons, Brian Wood, Dan Lyons, Dale Larson, Bob Hamilton, John Hunt, Jeff Lyons, Bob Byfield, Dan Smith and Leonard Wood.

Top rifle shots of the junior hunter safety course put on this winter by Sandpoint Rifle Club and the Eagles lodge were Kim Wooden, high girl; Carolyn Cox, second high girl; Doug Thurlow, high boy; Mike Brown, second high boy; and honorable mentions: David Remsburg, Robin Fournier, Tim Farmin, Tom Snipes, Mark Perry, Ed Best and Chuck Currier.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Johnson of Bonners Ferry announce the engagement of their daughter, Marse, to Charles W. Shobe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Shobe, Ponderay. Miss Johnson is employed in Sandpoint with General Telephone Co. Mr. Shobe is employed with the U.S. Forest Service in Clark Fork.

1947 LICENSE PLATES ILLEGAL
As of yesterday, persons on the highways with 1947 plates still on their automobiles and trucks will be picked up and sent into court. April 1 was the day that old plates became illegal and because new plates have been available for two months, the state police feel there is no legitimate excuse for not having new plates. So if you haven’t gotten your new plates yet, leave the old buggy home!

JOHN HUNT HOME FROM HILL ACADEMY
John A. Hunt, a cadet at Hill Military Academy, Portland, spent Easter vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett E. Hunt. Cadet Hunt returned to the academy to resume his studies Wednesday.
