EPHRATA – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested Eliseo Valdobinos, 22, of Quincy Friday in association with investigations into multiple daytime burglaries, according to a GCSO statement.

A sergeant was looking for a Honda Accord that was missing its front bumper and had been associated with the burglaries. Upon seeing the vehicle, the officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with Valdobinos who eventually began providing investigators with information tying him to four daytime burglaries in or near Quincy and Royal City, the statement said. He also indicated he’d sold a stolen video game console to a Moses Lake gaming store.

Valdobinos is currently held at the Grant County Jail on suspicion of four counts of residential burglary and one count of first-degree trafficking of stolen property.

The Honda had been identified by victims as being seen in the area.at about the time of their homes being robbed, said Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman.

GCSO deputies responded to an accident on Road 11 SW at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon with multiple injuries reported.

The GCSO Motor Traffic Unit investigated the incident and found that a 2009 Ford Flex driven by Griselda Carrasco, 46, of Royal City had stopped at a stop sign on Adams Road South, then drove into the passenger side of a 2010 BMW X5 driven by Rendon Hernandez, 31, of East Wenatchee.

Carrasco and Yolanda Herrera, 56, of Royal City along with two children, a 5-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake for treatment.

Passengers in the BMW also all sustained injuries of various degrees of severity.

Hernandez and passengers Ana Rendon Vargas, 33, and a 4-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment. Passenger Isabel Herrera, 54, was transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee with life-threatening injuries.

All of the occupants of the BMW were from East Wenatchee.

Herrera is still admitted. No update on her condition was available by press time.

First responders were dispatched on a call to a man with a gun on the banks of the Columbia River beneath the Wildhorse Monument and Interstate 90, near Vantage on Sunday, and concerns that the man might be suicidal, according to a GCSO statement.

A crisis responder and other resources were sent to the scene but were unable to find the individual in question. Due to the rough terrain, the search was called off when night fell at about 8:15 p.m. and the Washington State Patrol closed the milepost 140 overlook during the night as a precaution.

Traffic in the area was not significantly affected by the situation, according to a GCSO statement.

Foreman said the person searchers were looking called the Multi-Agency Communications Center that night and said he was not carrying a firearm and was not suicidal.
