MEAD – The Bulldogs won their third straight game of the season, defeating Mead, 13-12 at Mead High School on Tuesday, April 11.

The two teams, who happen to be rivals in lacrosse, did not disappoint the fans in attendance. Sandpoint and Mead went back-and-forth the entire match, and ultimately, the game came down to the final minute of play.

Kostas Bauck put the Bulldogs up early with the first score of the match; his third goal of the season. By the end of the first quarter, the score was tied, 4-4.

During the second quarter, the Bulldogs pulled ahead with three unanswered goals, one from Gabe Linck and two from Blayne Kanning. Strong defensive play by the Bulldogs held the Panthers to only one goal in the quarter. At halftime, the Bulldogs had taken the lead, 7-5.

“Hayden Sisk and Sawyer Treadaway do not let much past them on the defensive end. In goal, Ryan Doko was seeing the ball very well,” head coach T.R. Page said.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs kept the momentum on their side by adding five more goals to the scoreboard. Kanning added two more goals, Owen Page scored two, and Owen Wimmer added one of his own.

“Our offense was moving the ball well in the second and third quarter. We were sharing the ball – making that ‘one’ extra pass – and created quality scoring chances,” Page said.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs had a comfortable lead, 12-7. However, the Panthers mounted a comeback scoring five unanswered goals. Going into the final minute Maksym Page broke the tie with a remarkable line drive shot; Bulldogs win, 13-12. It was the first recorded win for the Bulldogs versus Mead in recent history.

Sandpoint (3-0) will head to Fort Missoula Regional Park in Missoula, Montana on Saturday, April 15 where they will face in-conference opponents in Ammon and Idaho Falls.
