COLUMBIA BASIN – With district tournaments beginning as soon as next week, baseball and softball teams from across the Basin are still battling for seeding in their respective league tournaments. Read below to see how local teams fared in last week’s action, and matchups for this upcoming week. Scores are according to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline

Baseball

The Warriors continued their undefeated start to the 2023 season by sweeping two doubleheaders last week, first over Columbia (Hunters) on Tuesday before winning two games against Odessa on Saturday. ACH first defeated Columbia 19-0 and 11-1 on Tuesday, then won 7-1 and 21-10 over Odessa. The 11-0 Warriors will travel to two road doubleheaders this week, first against Mary Walker on Tuesday then Wilbur-Creston-Keller on Saturday.

Softball

ACH saw its six-game win streak end with back-to-back losses to Inchelium over the weekend, but the Warriors picked up two wins earlier in the week with a 19-5 and a 14-2 win over Waterville-Mansfield on Tuesday. With a 7-3 record, the Warriors also travel to Mary Walker and Wilbur-Creston-Keller this week.

Ephrata

Baseball

The Tigers picked up their first win last week, defeating College Place 7-1 in a home game on Tuesday. In a home doubleheader against Brewster on Saturday, Ephrata fell 6-0 and 11-0 to the Bears. This week, Ephrata will host River View on Tuesday before a doubleheader at Prosser on Saturday.

Softball

Ephrata moved to 10-4 with 15-0 and 14-4 wins over Ellensburg on Thursday, the only games that the Tigers played last week. This week, Ephrata will host Quincy for a doubleheader on Tuesday before a non-league standalone game on Thursday against Cascade (Leavenworth).

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague

Baseball

The Broncos fell in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader to Jenkins (Chewelah), losing 17-1 and 14-1 to the 13-3 Cougars. LRS will play in two doubleheaders this week, hosting Reardan on Tuesday and traveling to Kettle Falls on Saturday.

Softball

LRS picked up its fourth-straight win with 4-2 and 11-5 victories over Jenkins (Chewelah) on Tuesday, improving to 7-9 on the season. Similarly to the LRS baseball team, the softball squad will host Reardan on Tuesday before traveling to Kettle Falls to close out the regular season.

Moses Lake

Baseball

The Mavs completed the regular season sweep over Davis last week, defeating the Pirates 11-1 on Tuesday before winning both games of Friday’s doubleheader by a 4-2 score. Moses Lake, 13-2 this season, matches up against Wenatchee three times this week; the first game is a standalone game at home on Tuesday, and the Mavs will travel to Wenatchee for a doubleheader on Friday.

MLCA/CCS

Baseball

The Lions played three games last week, first falling 15-5 on the road to Waterville-Mansfield on Tuesday. In a road doubleheader against Pateros on Saturday, MLCA/CCS won both outings with a 1-0 score. MLCA/CCS hosts Riverside Christian for a standalone game on Tuesday before traveling to Othello for a matchup against the Huskie C-Team.

Othello

Baseball

Othello improved to 12-6 after sweeping through three games last week, the first being a 6-4 win over Jenkins (Chewelah). In a Saturday doubleheader against Grandview, the Huskies won 9-5 and 11-2 over the Greyhounds. Victors of eight of their previous nine games, the Huskies close out the regular season with a doubleheader on the road against East Valley (Yakima) on Saturday.

Softball

The Huskies put together their sixth-straight win with back-to-back trouncings over Prosser, ending with 25-0 and 17-0 wins over the Mustangs. Othello (13-3) remains undefeated in Central Washington Athletic Conference games this season and will host Grandview for a doubleheader on Friday.

Quincy

Baseball

The Jacks began last week with a 12-1 win over Cascade (Leavenworth) on Wednesday but fell in both games of Saturday’s road doubleheader, losing 13-0 and 2-0 to Cashmere. Quincy begins this week with a non-league home game against Toppenish on Tuesday before a home doubleheader against Omak on Saturday.

Softball

Quincy’s six-game winning streak was snapped when the Jacks fell in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against Cashmere, dropping the Jacks to 10-3 this season. Earlier in the week, Quincy defeated Cascade (Leavenworth) 15-5 on the road. This week, Quincy travels to Ephrata for a doubleheader on Tuesday before a home doubleheader against Omak on Friday, then travels to face the Pioneers for a doubleheader on Saturday.

Royal

Baseball

Royal’s lone outing last week was a doubleheader against Naches Valley, where the Knights fell 11-1 and 14-4 to the Rangers. This week, the Knights host Wahluke in the team’s final home doubleheader of the regular season.

Softball

After having the previous two weeks off, the 10-1 Knights will return to the field on Saturday for a doubleheader against Wahluke.

Wahluke

Baseball

Wahluke fell in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against Kiona-Benton City, falling 19-0 and 17-9 to the Bears. This week, the Warriors travel to Royal for a doubleheader against the Knights on Saturday.

Softball

The Warriors hit the field for the first time since March 31 on Tuesday, falling in both games of a doubleheader to College Place with 22-15 and 12-9 scores. In Saturday’s doubleheader against Kiona-Benton City, Wahluke fell 5-1 and 18-1 to the Bears. Wahluke travels for two doubleheaders this week, first at Granger on Tuesday then Royal on Saturday.

Warden

Baseball

The Cougars went 2-1 last week, improving to 11-5 as the team enters the final two weeks of its regular season. Warden first defeated Connell in a road game 8-3, then split a doubleheader against Tri-Cities Prep with an 11-1 loss and a 2-0 win. Warden will travel to Columbia (Burbank) for a road doubleheader on Saturday.

Softball

Warden improved to 11-0 with two wins over Tri-Cities Prep last week, winning 16-0 and 13-0 over the Jaguars. The Cougars will play in two road doubleheaders this week, first at Columbia (Burbank) on Tuesday before Okanogan on Saturday.
