Get ready to fly a kite in Hayden

The Hayden Kite Festival is returning for another afternoon of high-flying fun.

Described as “a great event for the whole family,” the city-hosted festival will take place from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Broadmoore Park, 2691 W. Broadmoore Drive, in the Broadmoore Estates neighborhood, north of Atlas Elementary and accessible from Atlas Road.

Registration and kite flying will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Broadmoore Park. Judging will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony at 2:15 p.m.

Awards categories will include Best in Show, High Flyer, Best Homemade and more. The Hayden Kite Festival is free and open to all ages.

Don’t have a kite? Kites, sponsored by Aspen Homes in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, will be available.

Refreshments will be available for purchase.
