Sandpoint Signings – VanDenBerg, Gove, Lee pencil in commitments

SANDPOINT – Three Sandpoint seniors signed college commitment letters recently at Sandpoint High School.

Signing were Arie VanDenBerg, Jacob Gove, and Rusty Lee.

Arie VanDenBerg – VanDenBerg committed to playing Division III football at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. The senior tight end had 16 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns this past season for Sandpoint.

Jacob Gove – Gove committed to playing Division III football at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Gove served as the kickoff man and punter for the Bulldogs. He punted 13 times last season for an average of 28.1 yards per punt; his longest punt is 59 yards. In his 60 kickoffs, he averaged 48.3 yards per kick and produced six touchbacks.

Rusty Lee – Lee committed to running Division I track and field at Eastern Washington University. Lee specializes in the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and high jump; he ranks first in all those events in the Inland Empire Conference. His best marks are 110-meter hurdles, 14.18 seconds; 300-meter hurdles, 49.9 seconds; and high jump, 6-1.
