Plains baseball blanked by powerhouse Polson

With all the rain coming down, a little rust could be expected?
So after squaring their season mark a 2-2, the Plains High baseball Horsemen ran into a pair of tough, Class A opponents after a week-long layoff.
They emerged with a 2-4 season mark, having lost April 13 to unbeaten Polson, 11-0, then falling this past Thursday on the road to Frenchtown, 10-3.
In Frenchtown the host Broncs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning after Plains went 3-and-out in the top of the inning.
The Broncs strung together a walk and a hit batter by Horsemen starting pitcher Garth Parker. They then took a 1-0 on an RBI single. After loading the bases, Parker walked in a run, giving the Broncs a 2-0 advantage. Frenchtown added two more runs in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly and an error, putting them up 4-0.
Neither team scored in the second and Plains was held without a run through the top of the third. In the bottom of the third. A sacrifice bunt scored a run for the Broncs, who later added another score on a wild pitch.
By the end of the third, Frenchtown was ahead 6-0.
Plains got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Will Tatum singled to left, scoring Beau Crabb who had singled to lead off the inning. Crabb scored on an error by the Frenchtown left fielder, which also allowed Parker to score. Another Horseman run on an error put the score at 6-3 Broncs.
That would be all the scoring for Plains/Hot Springs. Frenchtown added three more in the bottom of the fourth and tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, making it 10-3 Broncs heading into the top of inning number seven.
Plains came up short in their half of the seventh, going down in order on a pair of fly balls and a pop out after Matt Felksa led off the inning with a single.
Tatum had the lone earned run batted in for Plains, which was outhit 8-5 by Frenchtown. The Horsemen committed four errors during the game while Frenchtown had three miscues.
Parker went four innings on the mound for the Horsemen, surrendering seven earned runs while striking out three and walking five.
Next on the schedule for the Horsemen is a home game this Friday at 2 pm against St. Ignatius at the Amundson Sports Complex. Plains also has a home game the following afternoon (1p.m.) when they take on Troy.
