The Northern Lakes Fire District congratulated the "Lucky 13" recruits who graduated Saturday from an onboarding class.
The 13 experienced firefighters, EMTs and paramedics from around the country began their training March 13, and they started working 48-hour shifts Monday.
"We are thrilled to welcome the 'Lucky 13' to our firefighting family," said Northern Lakes Fire District Chief Pat Riley. "These highly skilled and experienced individuals are an asset to our community, and we look forward to working with them to keep our neighborhoods safe."
Training Division Chief Mike Mather exhibited exceptional leadership, said Chris Larson, public information officer for the Northern Lakes Fire District. The lead training instructors, Captain Eric Sorenson and Firefighter Paramedic Nate Combes, conducted the third recruit class in the last 12 months.
Recruits who successfully completed the rigorous training and graduated from recruit class 23-01 were Cooper Sutton, David Agoglia, Dan Parrish, Austin Winters, Reid Palmer, Max Evans, Matt Swarbrick, Brandon Silkman, Nathan Malloy, Wil Lancaster, Bronson Baker, Micheal Gow, Colton Cederblom.
The 13 new firefighters represent a significant milestone for the district in its mission to provide the community with the highest level of fire protection and emergency services. The graduation was made possible by a three-year, $4.5 million Staffing for Adequate Firefighter and Emergency Responder Grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
