West Hallett fire gets costlier, other fires burning across Washington

SPOKANE — The acreage of the West Hallett fire, located along Spokane-Cheney Road just southwest of Spokane, had been re-estimated at 155 acres Wednesday after remapping showed it to be smaller than the 200 acres previously reported. The estimated cost, however, had grown to $300,000 so far, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. The fire was still 0% contained.
These wildfires were also burning in Washington as of Wednesday, according to the NIFC:
• I-5 Milepost 206, about 10 miles north of Everett: 16 acres. Fire discovered Aug. 1. Containment and cost information not available.
• Beaver Valley, about 33 miles southeast of Port Angeles: 3 acres. Fire discovered Aug. 1. Fire discovered July 31. Containment and cost information not available.
• Eagle Bluff, on the Canadian border outside Oroville: 15,726 acres. 10% contained. Costs estimated at $4,900,000.

• Airplane Lake, about 50 miles northwest of Chelan: 25 acres. Fire discovered July 7. 0% contained. Costs estimated at $50,000.
• Badger, about five miles northeast of Wenatchee. 473 acres. Fire discovered July 20. 100% contained. Costs estimated at $820,000.
