LEGION BASEBALL: Lums knock out familiar foe, play another loser-out game today

HAVRE, Mont. — Charlie Dixon had an RBI double in a four-run fifth inning for the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen, who fought off elimination to beat JNS Baseball of Idaho Falls 6-0 in a loser-out game in the Northwest ‘A’ American Legion baseball tournament on Saturday morning.
Will Beckenhauer, who pitched the Lums to the state title against JNS Baseball last Sunday in Nampa, struck out four for Coeur d’Alene in the complete game shutout.
Coeur d’Alene (33-10) will play another loser-out game today at 3 p.m., against tournament host Havre. Havre lost 4-3 to Powell, Wyo., as The Press went to its press deadline on Saturday.
Idaho Falls, which advanced by finishing runner-up at state, finishes 25-18.
