EPHRATA – Unit 28 of the American Legion Auxiliary, assisted by Legionnaires, will be hosting a Patriot Day ceremony on Sep. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Grant County Courthouse in Ephrata, according to a press release from the organization.

According to the release, the event is honoring the anniversary as a day of remembrance and a day of service. 300 banners with pictures of the Washington Fallen Heroes will be placed on the courthouse lawn, located at 35 C Street NW, and Blue Star Banners will be distributed during the ceremony, which is planned for 45 minutes to an hour.

The release encouraged community members to honor those whose lives have been lost and to look for opportunities to be of service to the community on the day of the event. Event coordinators are also looking for volunteers to help with certain aspects of the ceremony.

For more information on volunteering, contact Jane Montaney at (509) 760-1433.
