‘Godfathers’ win Summer League Lax Championship

SANDPOINT - The Godfathers captured the first ever Sandpoint Seven Summer Series Lacrosse Championship by defeating the Reservoir Dogs, 16-14 at Great Northern Park on Sunday.
The entire match was back-and-forth until the very end. The Godfathers led 8-7 at halftime, but the Reservoir Dogs would recapture the lead in the second half, taking a 13-10 lead with just four minutes remaining. The Godfathers would score six unanswered goals in the final four minutes which propelled them to the 16-14 victory.
The Godfathers started out the summer season 0-1 and went on a four game winning streak to secure the championship and finish 4-1. The Reservoir Dogs finished 3-2, losing both of their games to the Godfathers this season.
Summer series commissioner, Chad Cole, said this year's summer league surpassed expectations and proves that lacrosse is one of the fasting growing sports in North Idaho and around the world. Cole said the series will be back for its second year next summer.
