Basketball players of all ages took to the streets of Quincy for the Dru Gimlin 3-on-3 tournament in June, where nearly 100 teams played on 16 outdoor courts.

Royal running back Kaleb Hernadez won East Offensive MVP at the Earl Barden Classic in June, scoring a go-ahead touchdown in overtime to help secure East’s fourth-straight win. Joining Hernandez in the game were fellow local players in Dylan Allred (Royal), Sonny Asu (Othello), Julian Alegria (Othello), Wes Kriete (Ephrata) and Travis Hendrick (Ephrata).

The 13U and 14U Babe Ruth North Washington State Tournaments were held at Larson Playfield and Lauzier Park in Moses Lake in early July, where 13U Wenatchee and the 14U Columbia Basin River Dogs were crowned champions.

The Washington Junior Golf Association held its state championship in Moses Lake for the first time this summer, with over 250 golfers playing at the Moses Lake Golf Club, The Links at Moses Pointe and Lakeview Golf & Country Club.

The 14U Columbia Basin River Dogs reached the 14U Babe Ruth Pacific Northwest Regionals in late July, falling two games shy of qualifying for the 14U World Series in Virginia.

BMX riders took to the Larson BMX Track on Friday nights throughout the summer for single-point races.

The 8/9/10U Washington Little League State Tournament was the first tournament to be played at the newly-upgraded Lions Park in Othello, where Kirkland American took home the title.

Barrel racers participated in the Columbia Basin Barrel Racing Club’s Tuesday Night Races, hosted biweekly at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

The third annual Pete Doumit Memorial Tournament gathered teams from across the state to Larson Playfield in Moses Lake in June, where four age divisions competed for titles.
