BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office has a school resource officer to work in county schools.
Greg Reynolds will be the second SRO at Boundary County School District and will serve the outlying elementary schools, Naples and Mt. Hall. Prior to this role he was a patrol deputy with BCSO.
“Deputy Reynolds brings with him years of law enforcement experience along with working in school environments,” Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer said.
When asked why Reynolds was chosen for the role, Kramer said he has the compassion, knowledge and ability to be a great addition to the partnership between the schools, community and law enforcement.
“We are excited to be able to have him interact with our youth and know that he will be a positive role model,” he said.
Before working with the sheriff’s office, Reynolds spent 10 years between two law enforcement agencies in California, BCSO officials announced on social media. A majority of that time was spent as a university police officer, where he worked with staff and faculty to provide a positive and healthy learning environment for the students.
One of the catalysts that sparked his interest in the law enforcement profession was an interaction he had with an officer when in high school, Reynolds said.
“I had my bicycle stolen from me at knifepoint, but the officer that responded and took the police report actually had me smiling by the time he was done,” Reynolds said. “Needless to say, I was very impressed.”
He said the effects of that positive interaction have ultimately led his wife and kids on a life adventure that has landed them in Boundary County.
One of his many goals as deputy for the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, and specifically as an SRO, is to emulate that officer that greatly impacted him and provide the students and staff with the best service possible.
“I look forward to serving you, serving with you and enjoying a safe, fun and educational school year,” he said.
Bonners Ferry Police officer Brandon Johnson will continue as SRO for schools in Bonners Ferry city limits.
