Gertrude Lieselotte Bogers, 85, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Aug. 14, 2023.
She was born March 11, 1938, to August and Paula Gattung in Frankfurt, Germany, and grew up in Schwanheim, Germany.
Gertrude came to the U.S. in 1960. She lived in Nebraska until 1978 and then moved to Harrison Flats, Idaho. She and her husband, Adrian, later moved to Hayden, Idaho.
Gertrude loved visiting with people and telling stories about growing up in Germany from 1938 to 1960. She took pleasure and pride in her gardens. She loved making German recipes and baking sweets. She has resided in assisted living for the past year, where she has made many cherished friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Paula Gattung; brother Heinz Gattung; her grandson, Beckett Arp and husband Adrian Bogers.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Dianna Knight of Nebraska and Karen (John) Pace of North Dakota; four grandchildren, Erika (Brian) Arp, Kyle (Joyce) Banderob, Megan Banderob and Brenton (Wylicia) Keefer; and five great-grandchildren, Grady, Nash, Hayes, Lorelei and Karstyn.
Gertrude’s memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at Lifeway Chapel in Post Falls, 501 W. 15th Ave., Post Falls, Idaho.
