Recent rains have helped quell area fires and the pre-evacuation notice from the Spotted Bear Road to West Glacier east of Highway 2 has been rescinded.
It may have to be re-instated should the fires flare up again.
But that doesn’t seem likely, as of presstime, Hungry Horse had received 1.24 inches of rain — the remnants of Hurricane Hilary that came up the California coast into Montana.
The Glacier Park International Airport received 0.65 inches and West Glacier received 1.02 inches.
The Plains area, which has a 16,000 acre-plus wildfire near Paradise, had 0.96 inches, the Weather Service said.
The Ridge Fire near Martin City is listed at about 3,474 acres, the Doris Fire near Doris Point 597 acres, and the Tin Soldier Complex near Spotted bear at about 6,000 acres.
The East Fork Fire near Olney is 4,614 acres. It had an evacuation notice late last week as high winds stoked the blaze, but it has since been downgraded.
More heavy rain fell later Tuesday during a huge thunderstorm.
