SOAP LAKE — With the help of the Soap Lake Police Department, Grant County Sheriff’s Department found a man who had become separated from his companions on a hike near the Lake Lenore Caves on Tuesday. Sheriff’s deputies issued a release on the incident Thursday.

According to the post, the 70-year-old man became separated from his companions while hiking at the caves, about 10 miles north of Soap Lake. The post stated that the Soap Lake Police launched a drone and soon located the man. He was reunited with his companions.

EPHRATA — An Ephrata man was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault and other charges following an incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at another person.

The man, 19, whose name was not released, also was booked on suspicion of two counts of harassment, illegal possession of a pistol, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. in the 100 block of C Street SW, according to an Ephrata Police Department post. Witnesses said a man pointed a pistol at a person, then fled the scene.

The man and a vehicle were located in the 1600 block of C Street SW, and the house was contained by the EPD, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Soap Lake Police Department. Officers also requested the Moses Lake Tactical Response Team, the release said.

The man was taken into custody without incident at about 10:40 a.m.
